XN85 Exhaust Removal
This article is part of one of many for doing other projects on your XN85.
Take your favorite 13 mm socket with long extension to remove the heat shield.
Use a 7mm socket to remove the bracket that mounts on the exhaust tube.
Use a 10mm open end box end wrench to remove the shifter.
Use a 14mm socket to take off the Engine Mounting bracket as this is in the way for the exhaust tube to be removed. You will need a 12 mm socket to remove the two bolts that connect the bracket to the frame.
Use a 13mm open end box end wrench to hold the bolt on the back of the canister bolt and use a 13mm socket to take the bolt off.
Use a 6mm Allen socket or wrench to loosen the exhaust canister from the exhaust tube coming from the back side of the turbo. The slide the canister off and put it aside.
Take a 6 mm Allen wrench and remove the top three bolts that hold on the exhaust tube from the back side of the turbo. You will need a long Allen wrench 6mm to take the 4th nut off that is in the center of the exhaust tube.
Use a 12mm box end (only thing that will fit) to remove the three bolts that hold the exhaust to the turbo.
Use your favorite 6mm Allen wrench to take off the exhaust tubes from the head. When putting these back on note that they only really go on one way and you can be fooled by having trying to put them on backwards which result in cross threading your bolts in the head (not good).
Use a 13mm socket to loosen the tubes form the mid exhaust section underneath.
Then wiggle the tubes free and put them aside. I always put the left two on the left side of the bike and same with the right so I don't get confused when re-installing them.
Use a 13mm socket to remove the two bolts that hold on the center exhaust section. This section is the heavy peace so watch out to not let it fall and dent your tubes.
Carefully pull it out while trying to push the back exhaust tube (from the turbo) out of the way as you couldn't fully remove that peace until the intake and turbo have been removed.
Now once you remove the intake and turbo as shown in the how-to on removing them, you can remove this item as shown in the picture.
Once you are complete reassemble the items on the ground that way you can set them aside and not have to worry about losing stuff.
